tint, be gone!

Well gosh dang, some projects just don't pack as much KAPOW in pictures, you know what I mean? BUT those ones sometimes end up making the biggest difference in our lives - LIKE THIS PARTICULAR UNDERTAKING WE DID ON A WHIM LAST WEEK!

There was a DARK tint on the windows of this house - and I mean MIDNIGHT LEVEL, OUTER SPACE INTENSE DARK. When we first moved in though, although it felt closed-in, everyone kept telling us how nice and luxurious it was that we had this heat protection for the summers, and hey! It would protect the floors and furniture from the sun. All good things, right?

The only problem was, WE WERE THE ONES LIVING INSIDE THE DEPRESSING DARKNESS ALL DAY EVERYDAY!

Last Saturday, Chad and I suddenly had had enough. Chad spotted a tiny little area where the tint had peeled up and he said, "I'M DONE. WE'RE TAKING THIS OFF!" So he just went for it!

Nothing surprised me more than seeing the side-by-side of the panes as he took the first film off - I MEAN LOOK AT IT. All of a sudden we could SEE outside! The light was GOLDEN pouring into our house - not GREY. I literally felt like all of a sudden we had clicked "NO FILTER" on life bahaha!

It was LIFE GIVING, not LIFE DRAINING.

Truly unbelievable.

Since we've taken it down, it's been a tad bit warmer in the house, but you know what? At least we want to BE in the house baha! Who needs a slightly cooler home if you don't enjoy hanging out in there? Also, I feel totally spoiled saying this, but because of the extensive solar panels that were installed by the previous owner, the air conditioning costs don't hit us at all... so... there's that happy fact.

Anyhoo! We've taken down all the rest of the tint in the house, but we will need to have a professional come out and finish up for us. Some of the windows didn't peel as easily so they're streaky, and it seems that there were several layers of film on there, so as of right now, they're not all uniformly bright. But otherwise, WOOOOOOOOOO for the golden light!

It feels like a whole new house. LIGHT IS EVERYTHING.
